Semen needs no much introduction, at least not with where it comes from and how it appears like. But just to set the record straight, it is the whitish thick fluid that gushes out of a man’s urethra after a penile stimulation. This can happen during a sexual intercourse or masturbation. That is the much most people know about semen. But did you know that the fluid is stuffed up with a representative from almost all important food groups?
Semen is made of glandular secretions, sperm cells and food nutrients, majorly fructose. Glandular secretions take about 98% of the averaged 3.5 ml volume of an average ejaculation. It is not a mistake that the secretions take much of the volume. They act as the ultimate protectors for the delicate sperm cells as well as stores for nutritional provisions.
There are two main glands that secret the contents of semen; the seminal vesicles and prostate gland. The former produces much of the secretions, accounting for up to 65%. The prostate accounts for about 30% and leaves a staggering 5% for the testicles.
Pressure endured during sexual intercourse or prolonged erection can have a blood vessel burst. This is usually the cause of red semen. Sometimes, the color may lean towards a brown coloration.
There needs to be no much concern when this happens. In most cases, normality will be attained in a span of a day or two. Persistence for the same however should be responded to with a visit to a doctor.
Every so often, men report cases of yellow ejaculated semen. This is usually traced back to alterations in diet inclusions. Note that it doesn’t have to be totally yellow; it can be some color leaning towards the same.
Again, this will clear once you have eradicated an identified dietary inclusion. This is unless the color change was due to age, in which case it may persist. All the same, it is good that a doctor clears the way forward if the color change continues to draw attention.
It is a fact that you can be producing unhealthy semen. This will translate into a lower probability of succeeding in impregnating a woman or even worse producing deformed babies.
If you want to make healthy semen, there are vices you will have to drop and habits you will need to adopt. For example, resist the temptation to puff that cigarette or drain that bottle of alcohol. Replace your carbohydrates sources with whole grain meals. Take more fish than you do red meat (unless you are cautious of how your semen tastes like; fish will make it taste awful). Peel some bananas on your way home and keep a bottle of water close to your proximity always.
Are you afraid that you might be producing low levels of semen? Well, it is a fact that only one sperm cell will be needed to get an ovum fertilized. However, producing more semen can very much boost the probability that the sperm cells will survive the long it is needed.
There are many options on how to increase sperm count. First, keep your body generally healthy. Second, avoid overworking yourself especially spending too much time in instances exposing your testicles to external heat. It is not a coincidence that testicles are not internal organs. A cool environment is needed for optimal semen production.
Additionally, make available the raw materials needed for semen production. As I said, semen is stuffed with a representative from every food group. This means that you don’t have the option of taking too many proteins in the expense of carbohydrates and so on.
